West Dean
GREEN TEAM
Starting in the car park of St. Andrew's Church, this is, by a fraction, the shortest of the routes, however it has the steepest section. A beautiful route that takes you up through the fields and into the woods before emerging to one of the greatest views in West Sussex.
Parking: Very limited spaces in the car park 3 or 4, some parking in the pub also
The Start!
All that training, all that mental preparation, has all built up to this moment!
The Downhill!
Race down the narrow lane, slightly downhill, tarmac...this is the fast bit. Turn left over the bridge and follow the wall
Get it out the way early!
The steepest section of all the routes, but it's not that long. There's glory at the top!
The Long Wall
It's not steep, but after what you've just been through, it may feel like you're running against a travelator! Still, lovely views to enjoy...
The Wooded bit
Change of scenery = second wind! You're in the woods, there's not far left and it's not too steep. Follow the pretty woodland path all the way to the hordes of spectators.
THE RACE IS ON!
At the car park, a quick wave to the masses and then straight up for the final assault to the top. Look right when you come out of the woods for the Mid Lavant runner and right when you get to the car park for the East Lavant runner, the race is on!
